Kathmandu, February 16
Law Minister Agni Kharel has said that the government is committed not to torture anyone. Minister Kharel, who was responding to quiries from members of Parliament on Tuesday, said the the government has already announced that false cases against protesters in the Madheshi would be withdrawn, and injured agitators would be given free medical treatment.
“If there are cases where people have been booked with false charges or are being tortured, we shall look into it,” said minister Kharel.
The remarks come as Madheshi leaders, who have been agitated for over four months, say that the government is meting out torture on protesters and booking them with falsified evidence.
