Kathmandu, February 18
The government has formed a political mechanism under the leadership of foreign minister Kamal Thapa to report on a possible revision of provincial boundaries to address the demand of the agitating Madheshi Morcha.
Prime Minister KP Oli, who is leaving for India on a five-day visit, had said earlier on Thursday that such a mechanism would be formed in the afternoon, regardless of any agreement with the Morcha.
According to sources, the committee was formed after last-ditch efforts to reach a deal with the Morcha failed on Thursday afternoon.
Prime Minsiter Oli had announced that such a mechanism would be formed before he leaves for New Delhi.
