Pilot, co-pilot of ill-fated Kasthamandap plane dead, rescue efforts underway

Of the 11 people on board the Kasthamandap Airlines plane that crashed at Chilkhaya VDC-2, Kalikot district, pilot Dinesh Neupane and co-pilot Santosh Rana have died, Kalikot Chief District Officer Pradip Shrestha told Onlinekhabar over the phone.

A Kasthamandap Airlines plane and a Nepali Army chopper are rushing to the site for the rescue of others on board.

Earlier reports suggested that the plane crashed while making an emergency landing after experiencing technical glitches. The plane had left for Jumla from Nepalgunj with 11 people on board, including a child.

According to eyewitness Mahesh Dhakal, the plane was unstable and crashed at plain land.
