Kathmandu, March 13
Kathmandu district administration office on Sunday ordered police to keep UCPN-Maoist lawmaker Lhakyal Lama in custody for investigation. In course of an investigation on the charge that lawmaker Lama had amassed property disproportionate with his means, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority had recovered 14 bullets from his locker at Nepal Investment Bank in Durbarmarg on Sunday.
The CIAA had handed over Lama to the police office in Durbarmarg. Police had sought permission from the Kathmandu to keep him in custody for 10 days for an investigation under the Arms and Ammunition Act. Krishna Gaire, administrative officer at the DAO, said the district administration directed police to keep Lama in custody for five days.
