Public Service Commission objects to unconstitutional transfer of its employees

Kathmandu, March 24

The Public Service Commission has publicly vent fury against the KP Oli government after the latter trampled on its authority.  It organised a press conference on Thursday to vent its ire after the government transferred PSC Secretary Shridhar Sapkota and Joint-Secretary Kedar Nath Sharma without its consent. The government had transferred Sapkota 41 days after he joined the PSC, while it transferred Sharma within a year of his transfer to the constitutional body.

Umesh-mainaliAt the press conference, PSC Chair Umesh Prasad Mainali objected to the government move, suggesting it not to breach its constitutional and legal limits. Mainali warned the government not to transfer PSC employees without consulting him.

As per Public Service Commission Act 2066, government should take PSC’s permission before transferring PSC employees.

Mainali warned that PSC will not be able to discharge its constitutional duties if the government does not take its suggestions seriously.
