Kathmandu, March 30
A high-end luxury resort is formally starting its operation in Meghauli of Chitwan from Friday (April 1).
Meghauli Serai Jungle Lodge by Taj Safaris*, the ‘seven-star’ resort, aims to cater to affluent tourists by offering services available at seven-star hotels.
“We have completed preparations for the operation of the hotel, we are formally opening it on April 1,” Madhusudan Poudel, corporate communications and public relations GM at Chaudhary Group, the holding company, told Onlinekhabar.
Chaudhary Group, the investor, has hired Taj Hotel for the management of the resort.
Initially, there was plan to operate the facility in the name of Zinc Journey, but we later hired Taj Hotel for the management of the hotel and gave it a new name, Poudel said. The investor had planned to start the hotel’s operation within 2015, but the plan got delayed due to adverse situations in the country.
Chaudhary Group believes the commercial operation of the resort will contribute to development of quality tourism in Chitwan.
The resort will offer jungle safari for tourists at Chitwan National Park, which is close to the facility.
At this resort, tourists will get services available that world-renouned resorts offer, Poudel said, adding: At hotel rooms, tourists will get a feeling that they are living on the lap of Nature.
Initially, construction of the facility was expected to cost Rs 270 million. But the cost went up drastically as construction work went ahead, it is learnt.
This is probably the first resort built in Chitwan with such a huge investment. It has 16 villas, a presidential suite and 13 rooms. Each villa has a swimming pool. Chaudhary Group expects the resort to be a huge attraction for jungle safari enthusiasts as well as wildlife researchers.
The facility also offers jungle walk and programmes aimed to give tourists glimpses of local Tharu art and culture.
These days, jungle safari is emerging as a huge attraction for the world’s rich people. The group hopes tourists going for jungle safari in Africa will come to Nepal as well. It plans to promote the new facility in the international market as well.
Singapore’s Eco ID Company has designed the resort, which is 33-km away from Bharatpur Airport.
