Kathmandu, April 3
The KP Oli government is making public the list of people eligible for grants for the reconstruction of their houses damaged or destroyed in last year’s earthquakes. The list will be out in eight village development committees of eight quake-hit districts on Sunday.
People not included on the list will not get government grants, including two lakh rupees’ grant, concessional loan and loan of Rs 1.5 lakh with collateral.
Distrusting details of the damage that the Home Ministry had provided, donors and the government had mobilised engineers and social mobilisers for collecting details through the Central Bureau of Statistics. However, the CBS will not be making public the list in villages of Sindhupalchok and Makwanpur districts due to the lack of understanding at the local level.
The National Reconstruction Authority said the list will be made public in Hansapur of Gorkha district, Marpak of Dhading, Kharanitar of Nuwaakot, Raviopi of Kavre, Manthali and Okhreni of Ramechhap, Rataata Jhangajholi of Sindhuli, Siddhicharan municipality of Okhaldhnunga and Dhunche of Rasuwa district.
Those eligible for grants and concessional loans will get detailed information about the procedures on getting the same through resource centres, village development committees and municipalities.
After that, owners of the households concerned will have to enter into an agreement with the NRA, which will, in turn, deposit the first installment of the grant (Rs 50,000) in the beneficiary’s bank account.
