A Nepali hotelier based in Saudi Arabia has done a commendable job back home.
Sri Prasad Yava Limbu (33) of Bharpa-5, Panchthar, has spent part of his hard-earned money — Rs 2.7 million — for the construction of a five-kilometre road connecting Dopkule along the Mechi Highway with Manedanda lower secondary school in Manedanda.
Limbu, which has been operating New Annapurna Nepali Hotel in Jubail, became ready to finance the construction of the road after receiving a request from fellow villagers.
Plans are afoot to inaugurate the road in the New Year (Baishakh 1, 2073), Limbu informed.
Social workers, intellectuals and other locals have decided to call the road Yava Marga — Yava Road — in recognition of Yava’s contribution.
The road is expected to benefit around one lakh people of villages including Panchthar, Khuwa, Sidim, Prabung and Ektin once it comes into operation. The plan is to establish road connectivity between Panchthar and bordering Indian territories, Limbu said, adding that the road will be gravelled within a year.
