Atlanta, July 3
Nepali Congress youth leader and lawmaker Gagan Thapa has said the blockade that India imposed against Nepal in the context of a Tarai crisis was unjust. Speaking at a programme in Atlanta, the USA, Thapa said problems in Nepal’s Tarai and the blockade are two different matters altogether.
Thapa said this while addressing a forum organised at the 33th general convention of ANA in Atlanta. He stressed the need to go for long-term planning for national development. Thapa said: We should plan in advance, keeping in mind the scenario a decade later.
Thapa highlighted the need to take all Non-Resident Nepalis along as national development partners, whether they are living in America, Europe, Australia or any other part of the world.
On the occasion, CPN-UML lawmaker and youth leader Rabindra Adhikari said Nepal needs citizens that are always aware. He asked all Nepalis to remain aware and watchful instead of keeping mum after casting their votes.
He stressed the need to go for planned development of Nepal and said Nepalis living within Nepal and abroad should be brought on board for national development.
Arjun Karki, Nepal’s ambassador to the USA, reminded all of help that Nepali nationals living abroad provided after last year’s quakes, stressing the need to identify new areas where NRNs can provide help.
