Kathmandu, July 4
Nepal national team’s former head coach Pududu Dassanayake will work as consultant for the squad during the UK tour, sources say.
According to sources in the know, Dassanayake is expected to arrive in London on June 12, ahead of the squad’s match against Marylebone Cricket Club at Lords on Tuesday, July 19.
The ICC will pay Dassanayake’s fees, and it is likely that he would also be given a similar role during Nepal’s tour of the Netherlands in August.
The former Sri Lankan international had come to Nepal in similar capacity in April this year in view of Nepal’s home series against Namibia.
However, he will not accompany the team to Nepal after the UK tour, sources say. “He is likely to stay in Europe until the matches against the Netherlands,” a source told Onlinekhabar.
Dassanayake was appointed Nepal’s coach in 2011, he stepped down in October 2015 following a dispute in Cricket Association Nepal (CAN).
