Sindhupalchok, July 6

A flooded Bhotekoshi River swept away 15 houses at Tatopani VDC and damaged the Barhabise-Tatopani road on Tuesday.

The floods that started at 10 pm also swept away two tippers kept at the Customs Yard in Limping and a bridge that Mid-Bhotekoshi Project had built, Chief District Officer Gokarna Mani Duwadi said.

The flooded river has caused erosion along a 50-metre section of the Barhabise-Tatopani road. Landslides have occurred at different sections of the road, bringing vehicular movement to a halt.

There have been no reports of casualties so far. The water level in the river went down on Wednesday, but it is still 1.5 metres above the normal, Duwadi said.

Security agencies informed that they put local people on alert along the 63-km Tatopani-Sukute stretch after discharge in the Bhotekoshi increased suddenly on Tuesday night.
