Kathmandu, July 7
Doctors attending to Nepali Congress General Secretary Dr Shashank Koirala have said there’s no need to send Koirala abroad for treatment. They said they are capable of treating Koirala in Nepal itself.
Congress leaders, including party President Sher Bahadur Deuba, had wanted to take Dr Koirala to Delhi for treatment via air ambulance in view of his health condition. But his wife, Dr Supatra, said there’s no need to take him to India for treatment. The hospital also said it cannot refer Koirala to another hospital.
Doctors involved in Koirala’s treatment said on Thursday morning that he is recovering. Dr Lava Joshi said: There are signs of improvement in Koirala’s health.
Asked whether it’s possible to take Koirala to Delhi on an air ambulance, he said the meeting of doctors did not discuss this issue. Dr Joshi said: Congress leaders had wanted to take Koirala (to Delhi), but his family did not want it. At this point, we have not discussed this issue with his family.
He said: We can provide treatment to Koirala in Nepal itself, so please let us do our duties.
