Madheshi Morcha, an alliance of Terai-based parties protesting the new constitution, has said it will vote in the election for Prime Minister.

A day after the Maoists pulled out of the KP Oli government, the morcha said it will decide on its vote depending on the stance Nepali Congress and the Maoists take on its demands.

It has also hinted that if the it received commitment to address its demands, it will help parties concerned form a new government. However, it is not going to claim any ministerial berth before its demands are met.

According to sources, the morcha and the Federal Alliance (a group of pro-identity parties) are happy that the ‘ultra-nationalist’ government is going.

Forum Nepal’s leader Upendra Yadav told Onlinekhabar that he had always maintained that the government’s days were numbered. “The country cannot function without a government, so we will vote if the need be,” he said.
