Nepal Airlines’ Boeing 757, grounded for a week, has resumed operation after maintenance. At 11.49 pm on Wednesday, the plane left for Malaysia.
The plane had remained grounded at the Tribhuvan International Airport since July 7 after developing technical glitches.
NA’s another wide-body plane, Boeing 757, has remained grounded and is said to be beyond repair. NA is preparing to sell off the plane at scrap value.
Of the two Airbus planes brought from Europe, one remains grounded at the TIA. The plane received a bird hit at TIA last Friday while it was flying to Hong Kong. NA says the plane will be operational in 2-3 days after engine repair.
With three out of four planes meant for international operations grounded, NA had been flying only one plane on international routes.
Meanwhile, NA’s 50-seater MA 60 plane and 18-seater Y 12 E also remain grounded. Along with these two planes brought from China, NA had two twin otters for domestic flights. With three planes meant for domestic operations grounded, NA has just one plane for domestic flights.
NA has initiated the process for procurement of two wide-body planes for international operations. It also plans to procure two narrow-body planes. It aims to operate flights to Japan, Republic of Korea, Europe and Australia.
