Kathmandu, July 15

The Ministry of Local Development has issued what it called the ‘last warning’ against local development officers of 34 districts accusing the LDOs of flouting its directives. In its written warning, the ministry has cautioned it will stop grants and take note of this subordination while appraising performance of the LDOs if they do not follow the directives within a week.

For three times, the ministry has directed the LDOs concerned to furnish details of employees working at offices under district development committees and municipalities in a set format. But they have been refusing to follow the ministry’s diktat.

The ministry had sent the format and given the mailing address for correspondence. With the local bodies not cooperating, the ministry has threatened to stop grants to LDOs concerned and negatively appraise their performance if they do not follow the directives within a week. Further, the ministry has warned that employees of offices concerned may be devoid of opportunities for insubordination.

LDOs of Panchthar, Ilam, Sankhusabha, Terhathum, Bhojpur, Khotang, Okhaldhunga, Ramechhap, Dhading, Kavrepalanchok have allegedly been flouting the directives. Others flouting the directives include LDOs of Rautahat, Bara, Parsa, Gorkha, Manang, Lamjung, Kaski, Tanahun, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, Mustang, Myagdi, Baglung, Parbat, Pyuthan, Salyan, Dolpa, Jumla, Humla, Kalikot, Dailekh, Bardiya, Bajura and Dadeldhura.

The ministry has also found village development committees of these districts and two dozen municipalities at fault.
