Kathmandu, August 23
Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi said on Tuesday Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda will embark on India visit sooner than later. DPM Nidhi claimed that visit of India’s President Pranab Mukherjee to Nepal and that of Nepal President Bidhya Bhandari to India will take place for sure.
India, by giving importance to my visit, has offered its respect to the new government formed in Nepal
Talking to the media at Tribhuvan International Airport upon his return from India, where he held consultations with Indian political leaders in the capacity of PM Prachanda’s special emissary, DPM Nidhi said that India, by giving importance to his visit, has offered its utmost respect to the new government formed in Nepal.
Nidhi further said Nepal-India relations had turned sour for some time, but they have improved now. During his visit, Nidhi said, he found Nepal-India relations in excellent condition, adding that Nepal PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s upcoming visit will prove this.
The government is yet to formally announce PM Prachanda’s upcoming visit to India. India accorded high honour to me as Nepal PM’s emissary, that’s why high-level discussions became possible, Nidhi pointed.
He further said: Nepal-India relations have improved drastically and I am satisfied with this visit.
While in India, we discussed new government’s priorities. Constitution amendment did not figure in the discussions
Nidhi said while in India he and Indian officials discussed new government’s priorities, adding that Constitution amendment did not figure in the discussions.
Seven-point and three-point deals are the bases on which this government stands, Nidhi reminded, adding: Implementation of the Constitution and conduct of elections are priorities of this government.
Nidhi said during his visit, he discussed ongoing projects in Nepal with Indian officials.
