At a time when parts of Nepal’s Tarai are witnessing scrub typhus cases, two such cases have come to light for the first time in Janakpur also.
Dr Dipak Kumar Gupta, senior child health specialist, confirmed typhus scrub in two children. Dr Gupta said he came across the cases — Suraj Mahato (3) and Anjali Pariyar (7) — during tests. He said the centre discharged the two after treatment.
Symptoms of the disease include high fever, severe headache, respiratory complications, pain in the joints and muscles, cough, vomiting, stomachache and dysentery.
