Pokhara, September 8
Landslides resulting from incessant rains continuing since Wednesday night have killed four children in Kharanifant, Lekhnath-4, Kaski district.
Three children of Laxmi Sunar — Nishan Sunar (14), Rabina Sunar (9), Anjila Sunar (7) — and two-year-old grandson Salman Sunar died when landslides swamped a house in Kharanifant, police informed.
Salman had come to her maternal grandmother’s place with his mother Arpana. Other family members — Kabita Sunar (25) and Sajana Sunar (10) — have sustained injuries in the disaster. Police rescued them with help from local people. They are receiving treatment at Western Regional Hospital in Pokhara.
