Kathmandu, September 11
Nepal’s Supreme Court has issued a show-cause notice to the government of Nepal on its decision to make changes to the rules for writing in Devangari script, in which the Nepali language is written.
A writ petition was filed against the decision after it recently emerged that the government, five years ago, decided to make the changes, without consensus among linguists.
The petition was filed on Friday.
A bench of Justice Jagadish Sharma Paudel issue the notice to the government.
