Monsoon rains disrupt life in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, September 12

Incessant monsoon rain has affected life in Kathmandu as well as eastern and central parts of Nepal.

According to weathermen, a low-pressure system that has developed near West Bengal is responsible for continuous rainfall in Nepal. The rain has increased flow of water in the Koshi and Mahakali, and has raised alarm.

The low-pressure system is likely to remain active at least for a few days, and it is unlikely that the weather will clear on Tuesday.

According to the department of meteorology, the monsoon is expected to extend to the first week of October this year.
