Sindhupalchok, September 13
Kondo Sangbo of Baskharka-5, Sindhupalchok, died after a rain-swollen Chalse Stream swept him away at Duwachaur on Monday.
According to Kondo’s elder brother Lakpa Tenjen Tamang, Chalse swept away his brother Kondo on Monday afternoon while he was returning home from Melamchi after receiving grant for quake victims.
Anil Tamang said his father (Kondo) had to lose his life because government had not bothered to make arrangements for distribution of grant to senior citizens at their villages.
Earthquake victims from remote villages such as Bhotang and Helambu have no option but to trek all the way to banks based in Melamchi for receiving the grant.
