Kathmandu, September 21
CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli said on Sunday his party will play the role of a responsible political party rather than that of the main opposition when it comes to implementation of the new Constitution.
The role of the party has changed in a new political context, he said, adding that his party will play the role of a responsible opposition on matters of national importance.
When it comes to Constitution implementation, we will play the role of a responsible political party, he said. The former prime minister said this while addressing the central committee meeting of the party that began at its central office in Dhumbarahi.
The UML is currently in the opposition, but when it comes to nationalism and Constitution implementation, it will play the role of a responsible political party, he said.
We will launch a special campaign against the portrayal of the UML as a party that is against India and China.
He protested against the portrayal of the UML as an anti-Indian, anti-Madheshi and anti-Janajati party. Oli said the party will launch a special campaign against this propaganda.
He said: The UML is neither an anti-India nor an anti-China party. Our foreign policy is based on SAARC, United Nations and BIMSTEC Charters.
Plots are underway to weaken the country, he said and pledged to pile pressure against such designs.
On the occasion, Oli reiterated that the joint communique issued during Prime Minister Prachanda’s visit to India is unacceptable.
