Kathmandu, September 26

CPN-Maoist Centre has decided to hold its national conference in about a month from now. A meeting of the party leadership held in Kathmandu decided to convene the jamboree on October 26-27.

The conference will devise the future political course of the party. With the Maoist party’s general convention, which was scheduled to begin in about three months, shelved with its ascension to power, the party is gearing up to organise the conference.

At the conference, party Chair Prachanda will present a political report comprising the party’s political roadmap.

The conference will take a call on whether to retain the ‘jumbo’ general convention organising committee or create a new structure in its place. The party is under pressure to downsize the roughly 2,500-member organising committee.
