Chitwan, September 29
Divers searching for former Home Minister Madhav Prasad Ghimire in the Trishuli River have found a vehicle.
Basanta Kunwar, chief of Chitwan district police, said divers found a vehicle 10-15 metres down Ghoptebhir, the site of the accident involving the vehicle that was carrying Ghimire and some of his relatives as well as his bodyguard and driver.
There’s a vehicle 15 metres down the accident site, Kunwar said, adding: But it is still unclear if it is the same vehicle that was carrying Ghimire or is a truck that tumbled down the road about three weeks ago. He said the divers will fish out the vehicle shortly.
The Scorpio car numbered Ba 9 Cha 1531, which was carrying Ghimire and others, had fallen 300 metres down the road at Ghoptebhir, at around 5 pm last Sunday. The vehicle was bound for Kathmandu from Mugling.
Police have already recovered the bodies of three people, who were on board — Ghimire’s mother Chaitya Kumari Ghimire (80), bodyguard Ram Chandra Karki and relative Narayan Prasad Kafle. They had rescued Ghimire’s driver Bishnu Bahadur Rai alive.
