Police on Thursday night arrested two alleged masterminds involved in detonating bombs at schools based in Kathmandu and Lalitpur districts on September 20.

The arrestees are self-styled general secretary of Revolutionary Communist Centre Keshav Dahal and coordinator of the party’s student wing Min Devkota.

From the blast sites, police had recovered pamphlets bearing the names of All Nepal National Independent Student Centre and Young Communist Force Nepal, sister organisations of the semi-underground outfit.

Police are preparing to make the two public by organising a press conference in Kathmandu on Friday

Min Devkota had owned up to the blasts. Police are preparing to make the two public by organising a press conference in Kathmandu on Friday.

A team from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division and the Kathmandu Police Complex had arrested Dahal and Devkota from a house in Kavre, a police source said.

The centre is a semi-underground outfit under Devendra Singh Mahat. Police said they are looking for Mahat as well. By bringing together former Maoist combatants, Mahat has allegedly been spreading terror by engaging in explosions and donation collection.

In the last week of July, this group had torched a bus in Dallu, Kathmandu.

So far, police have arrested six people, including Dahal and Devkota, on the charge of involvement in school blasts. The arrested are Shankar Lakhe, Chandra Bahadur Tamang, Bishnu Poudel and Hom Bahadur Khatri. Police had released them on general date.
