A writ petition has been filed at Nepal’s Supreme Court demanding that the government cut-off benefits being provided to Lokman Singh Karki in his capacity as the CIAA chief.
In his petition, advocate Omprakash Alryal has said that after a proposal to impeach Karki was registered in Parliament, Karki is suspended from job. But he still continues to enjoy benefits provided to him, and lives in the government quarter meant for the CIAA chief.
Aryal says that the Supreme Court is currently looking into allegations that Karki was not qualified to be appointed to the post. According to him, if Lokman is allowed to continue as CIAA chief, he could get rid of evidence that could be used against him in court,
