City Police have intensified action against those involved in littering public places.
In course of about four months, we have taken action against 400 people involved in throwing waste at public places, City Police Chief Kadamlal Maharjan said.
Working together with Nepal Police, we are taking action against litterbugs, Maharjan informed.
City Police are focusing mainly on places like Lagankhel, Kopundole, Natole, Jwagal and Sanepa Bagmati.
They also plan to step up monitoring and taking action against litterbugs in areas that have just become a part of Lalitpur sub-metropolis. He said they plan to intensify monitoring in all 30 wards of the submetropolis.
Even those, who know that throwing waste in public places is a punishable act, have no idea about fines they have to pay in case of the offence. There are people, who do not even know that littering public places is a punishable act.
City Police are taking action against the offenders as per Waste Management Act 2068 and Autonomous Governance Act 2055.
