UML: Prachanda government shielding those, who are attacking national unity, independence

Kathmandu, January 20

Bhim Rawal, leader of the main opposition CPN-UML, has levelled a serious charge against the Prachanda-led government.

Rawal, speaking in the Parliament on Friday, accused the government of giving protection to those, who are attacking national unity and independence.

He said: The government remained a mute spectator when CK Raut was conducting a campaign in the name of independent Madhesh nation.

Taking special time in the House, he said current Prime Minister is only trying to prolong his stay in power.

Rawal, who is also a former defence and home minister, also made mention of the ‘Patna meeting’.

He alleged: I informed about this meeting at the Presidential Palace. On his part, Prime Minister, instead of providing the exact details of the meeting, took the matter lightly and tried to use it for political purpose.

Efforts are on to compromise national security, he said, adding that he had drawn the attention of Prime Minister and top political leaders informed about the meeting on the basis of credible information I had received.

Rawal also demanded that the government convene a meeting of chiefs of security agencies and the main opposition parties, among others, on the issue. Rawal said PM should come to the Parliament and answer the questions he has raised.
