Kathmandu, May 10
The Kathmandu District Administration Office has denied issuing special passes–required for vehicles to ply on the voting day, May 14–for vehicles to be used for wedding functions.
The DAO rejected the applications seeking passes for wedding vehicles citing security reasons, an official at the DAO Mahesh Dahal informed.
He added that the concerned law also does not allow the DAO to issue permits for wedding vehicles.
The DAO has issued such permits for candidates, observers, security personnel and journalists.
Journalists get such passes on the recommendation of the Department of Information whereas others from the Election Commission.
So far, around 1,500 passes have been issued, according to Dahal.
