Lalitpur vote count halted after UML complains of miscalculation

Kathmandu, May 23

The counting of votes from last week’s local level elections has been halted in Lalitpur Metropolitan City after the CPN-UML complained of miscalculation while accumulating votes from different wards.

UML’s mayoral candidate Hari Krishna Byanjankar has filed a complaint at the Election Commission claiming votes from wards 4, 9 and 26 have not been rightly added.

He has demanded that votes from the three wards be recounted.

Byanjankar says he was forced to file the complaint after Chief Returning Officer did not pay any heed to his demand for the recounting.

Votes from ward 29 only are yet to be counted in the city.
