Kathmandu, July 10
The CPN-UML has called a meeting of the party’s Standing Committee to review the party’s performance in the first and second phases of local level elections.
The meeting will take place this afternoon at the party’s headquarters in Dhumbarahi, according to General Secretary Ishwar Pokharel.
Though the UML emerged as the most powerful force at the local level in both the phases, most of the party leaders have believed that the party lost the polls in more than two dozen local units owing to divisions within the party and errors in candidate selection.
Of late, the party Chairman KP Sharma Oli has warned that he would take action against those acting against official candidates against the party.
The meeting will also discuss ruling parties’ preparation to amend the constitution with a two-third majority, according to Pokharel.
The meeting is expected to decide its official view on the amendment.
