Chitwan, August 7
The CPN-UML Chitwan district committee says the victory of CPN-Maoist Centre candidate Renu Dahal to the mayoral position of Bharatpur Metropolitan City of the district is unnatural.
Organising a press meet two days after declaration of the results, the UML says the ruling coalition orchestrated a drama to secure Dahal’s victory.
Speaking at the press meeting, UML district chair Krishna Bhakta Pokharel said ruling Nepali Congress and Maoist Centre spent millions of rupees against election code of conduct for Dahal’s victory.
Likewise, UML candidate for the position, Devi Gyawali said he was not defeated by people, but by the ruling alliance.
“Renu Dahal will feel restless for crimes she has done to win the mayor,” Gyawali said, “If she had won the polls naturally, I would have been the first person to congratulate her. But, her victory is artificial.”
“If she decides to write a book some day, she might also write about what she did to defeat Devi Gyawali.”
Meanwhile, the candidate also blamed Supreme Court for delaying verdict on the case as it provided the opponents more time to prepare grounds for the victory.
