Kathmandu, July 17
Over 10 leaders of Nepal Student Union, the sister organisation of the main opposition Nepali Congress, have sustained injuries as police intervened in a protest in Kathmandu today.
The injured include the organisation’s President Nain Singh Mahar, Vice President Pushkar Kumar Shahi and General Secretary Aananda Raj Tripathi.
Police had batoncharged the crown as it moved towards Naya Baneshwor from Maitighar.
The injured are undergoing treatment at Baneshwor-based Everest Hospital.
The organisation had organised the protest protesting various decisions of the government claiming they were oriented towards totalitarianism.
They had also demanded that the government take initiatives to save the life of medical education reform activist Dr Govinda KC, who has been staging a fast-unto-death in Jumla for last 18 days.
