Kathmandu, April 24
Some central leaders of the Madhesh-centric Rastriya Janata Party Nepal has piled pressure on the party leadership to hold a general convention as soon as possible.
Speaking at an officials’ meeting of the party in Kathmandu on Wednesday, the leaders demanded that general convention citing it was a must to give a life to the party’s internal democracy. The party’s central officials are holding a meeting in the capital for past three days to discuss contemporary political issues.
Earlier, the party had published a schedule to hold the convention in the last week of April. It was put on hold later citing lack of sufficient preparations.
Meanwhile, the leaders suggested that the party merge with other likeminded political groups to make it stronger, according to General Secretary Keshav Jha.
The party is in conversation with the Madheshi Janaadhikar Forum-Nepal to explore the merger possibility.
