Kathmandu, September 15
Asian Development Bank has estimated that Nepal’s economic growth could be restricted to as low as 1.5 per cent in 2021 due to the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In its economic forecasts released today, the ADB decreased the rate of growth from its previous estimates. In the estimate launched in April, it had said Nepali could achieve a growth rate of 6.4 per cent, which was further reduced to 3.1 per cent in June.
The government’s target for this year stands at around 7 per cent.
Meanwhile, the World Bank’s estimate stands at 2.1 per cent.
