Kathmandu, March 9
The Election Commission has officially decided that the registration of the Nepal Communist Party formed in 2018 after the merger between the then CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist Centre has been cancelled now.
It has told the two parties to merge and apply for another registration within the next 15 days if they want it again.
The decision follows the Supreme Court’s mandamus issued on Sunday, telling the commission to give the name (NCP) to a Rishi Kattel-led party and scrap the registration of the unified NCP. In effect, the verdict had revived the then CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist Centre.
