Govt fears the number of Covid-19 cases could reach a peak in June

Kathmandu, April 5

Health Minister Hridayesh Tripathi says the number of Covid-19 cases in the country could reach another peak in June.

Addressing the House of Representatives meeting in Kathmandu on Monday, the minister said the number of new cases was rising again of late. “If we cannot effectively implement the health protocols, the number of infections could reach another high in June,” he warned.

Earlier, in October 2020, the country had recorded the highest ever new Covid-190 cases as the per-day positivity rate was around 35 per cent.

Tripathi said the government was alarmed after the increasing number of infections in India.
