Kathmandu, May 9
The government has formed a task force to ease the supply of medical oxygen at hospitals across the country, in Kathmandu in particular, where Covid-19 patients are undergoing treatment.
The government’s move comes at a time when several hospitals in the Kathmandu valley have announced not to admit new Covid-19 patients for want of sufficient oxygen.
Following an instruction from the Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokharel, the six-member team has been formed under the leadership of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Ministry Joint Secretary Prem Kumar Shrestha, informs DPM Pokharel’s press advisor Ganesh Pandey. Other members of the team are representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Population, Birendra Hospital, Armed Police Hospital, and Nepal Police Hospital.
The government says there are 6,288 oxygen cylinders in Nepal whereas the current rate of oxygen supply is 1,411.5 litres per day.
