Vivo Y12s is yet another budget smartphone in the Nepali market from Vivo.
Not long ago, the brand launched Y15s in the market to celebrate the competition of four years of operation in Nepal. Vivo has released a few other smartphones also in Nepal this year although they did not get much attention from the market. The latest Vivo Y12s is highly like to follow suit as it does not have anything unique and special to attract the users except for a somehow intriguing design. Vivo Y12s is just another budget smartphone so nothing fancy can be expected from it either.
Let’s get into the details of the phone.

Design and display
Vivo Y12s comes with a glass front, plastic back and a plastic frame. The design of the phone is that of a typical Vivo Y series. It has a shiny back that actually looks good and houses a dual-camera setup. The phone weighs around 191 grams and is 8.4mm thick. At the side, it has a fingerprint sensor which also works as a power button. The phone can be unlocked through face recognition as well.
The phone has a 6.51 IPS LCD display with a maximum resolution of 720*1,600 pixels. The big screen on the phone can be great for watching videos and the display also filters out blue light to prevent eye strain.
Cameras
Vivo Y12s features an AI dual camera set up on the back while there is a single camera on the front. The back houses a 13MP camera and another 2MP depth sensor for portraits. The front meanwhile is an 8MP camera with an aperture of f/1.8.
Both cameras on the front and rear can record videos in 1080p@ 30fps. The rear camera also has an LED flash.
Performance and battery life
Vivo Y12s runs on Android 10 with Funtouch 11 on top. It is powered by Mediatek Helio P35 (12nm) chipset, the same one used in Y15s. While it has an Octa-Core CPU, the graphics are handled by PowerVR GE8320.
The phone also features Multi-turbo 3.0 which can focus on optimising core scenes to reduce shuttering and lags in games. It can also prioritise CPU and internal storage resources when too many apps are running simultaneously in the background.
The phone is powered by a 5000mAh non-removable Li-Po battery which supports 10W fast charging and also 5W reverse charging. As per the company, the battery is supported by AI power-saving technology ensuring plenty of battery life every day.
A single full charge should give power for 16.3 hours of online HD movie streaming, or 8.9 hours of resource-intensive gameplay.
Storage, connectivity and other features
Currently, Vivo Y12s only has a single storage option in Nepal. The 3GB RAM variant comes with 32GB of internal storage. There is an option of increasing the storage with a microSD card and the phone has a dedicated slot for it.
The phone supports dual sims as well as a dual Wi-Fi band. The phone also has Bluetooth 5.0, Micro USB 2.0 and is OTG supported. While there are no stereo speakers on the phone, it does have a 3.5mm headphone jack for audio connectivity and also supports FM.
Vivo Y12s is priced at Rs 17,999.
