Nepal Covid-19 tally: 264 new cases, 260 recoveries, 2 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, December 28

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 923,937 as of Tuesday afternoon.

The ministry said 264 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 8,536 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 241 returned positive. Likewise, 4,030 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 23 tested positive.

Of total tests, 2.50 per cent of the PCR and 0.57 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 2.10 per cent.

As of today, there are 4,910 active cases across the country. Of them, 245 are hospitalised, 84 in intensive care units and 22 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 260 people have achieved recovery whereas two deaths were reported.

Of the total cases so far, 811,265 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,588 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 98 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 283,265 people were vaccinated today.
