Design and display

iQOO 9 SE flaunts a stylish look. The phone has a glass front, glass back and an aluminium frame build. The phone features round corners and somehow reflects the design offered by Vivo on its phones. The back panel of the phone looks really attractive and can catch the attention of people. Available in two colours–space fusion and sunset sierra–the latter manages to catch the rays of light in it and refracts that in pleasing colours.

The phone weighs around 199 grams and is 8.4mm thick.

On the front of the phone is a 6.62-inch Super AMOLED punch-hole display with a resolution of 2,400*1,080 pixels. The display is quite impressive as it has HDR10+ support for vibrant and detailed viewing as well. Tt supports a 120Hz refresh rate along with a 300Hz touch sampling rate. The phone also features an under-display fingerprint sensor for security purposes.

Cameras

iQOO 9 SE

iQOO 9 SE features a triple camera setup on the back and has a single camera on the front. The 48MP main camera on the back is accompanied by a 13MP, 120 degrees wide-angle and a 2MP mono sensor. On the front is a 16MP camera with an aperture of f/2.0. There are plenty of photography features on the camera including night mode, portrait, panorama, live photo, slo-mo, time-lapse, pro mode (photo and video), pro sports mode and ultra-stable mode for videos.

An interesting feature of the camera is the extreme night vision. This feature uses an AI-denoising model for extremely dark environments to keep noise low even when the ISO is three times higher than before, resulting in a three-fold increase in light sensitivity. It ensures a better quality of photos even on extreme nights.

For the video, the camera is capable of capturing 4K resolution videos at 30 fps. The camera also features OIS for steady videos. Meanwhile, the front camera can capture videos in 1080p@ 30fps.

Performance and storage

Performance should not be an issue for iQOO 9 SE. It runs on the latest Android 12 with Funtouch 12 OS on top. The phone is powered by last year’s flagship chipset of Qualcomm, Snapdragon 888 5G (5nm) and the graphical duties are handled by Adreno 660. With the features, high graphical gaming and heavy-duty tasking should not be any problem.

The phone also features a full-coverage vapour chamber liquid cooling system which keeps the phone at moderate temperature even when performing at its peak.

For the storage, iQOO 9 SE is available in either 8GB or 12GB of RAM coupled with 128GB and 256GB of internal storage accordingly. The phone does not support external storage which means there is no SD card slot on the phone. However, the RAM memory on the phone can be expanded by up to 4GB with the extended RAM 2.0 technology feature which improves the app’s running efficiency by up to 33%.

Battery life, connectivity and other features

Giving the power to iQOO 9 SE is a 4,500mAh non-removable li-po battery. The battery life should be efficient as it features a 5nm efficient chipset. Under normal use, the battery should offer decent power. The battery can be charged with a 66W flash charger which allows the phone to get 50% charge in just 14 minutes and 100% charge in 39 minutes.

For the connectivity, iQOO 9 SE supports dual sims with a 5G network connectivity option. It supports dual-band Wifi for internet connectivity. For wireless connectivity with other devices, the phone features Bluetooth 5.2 and uses USB Type-C 2.0 for charging and wired connectivity.

There are dual stereo speakers placed at the top and bottom of the phone. This allows users to enjoy surround sound effects when they play games, listen to music and watch videos. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack on the phone.

The notable features on iQOO 9 SE include:

  • Super AMOLED display
  • 120Hz refresh rate
  • 300Hz touch sampling rate
  • 66W flash charge
  • 1200 peak brightness
  • Dual stereo speakers
  • Full coverage vapour chamber liquid cooling system
  • Extreme night vision
  • Motion estimation and motion compensation
  • SDR to HDR mode

The price of iQOO 9 SE is INR 33,990 for 8/128GB and INR 37,990 for 12/256GB variant.

There has been no official statement regarding the release of the phone in Nepal, but if it arrives here, you can expect a starting price range of Rs 60,000 and can cost up to Rs 75,000. If released here, it will compete against the best premium mid-range smartphones available in the market.
