Biratnagar, June 28
A total of 175 families have been displaced in Biratnagar and Katahari areas of the Morang district due to incessant rain and flood in the Singhiya river.
According to DSP Deepak Shrestha of the District Police Office, Morang, 45 families have been displaced in Biratnagar and 130 in Katahari. He says that 25 families have been displaced in Biratnagar-8 and 20 in Biratnagar-2.
Shrestha says that those displaced due to the flood have been shifted to safer places. Police have urged those having settlements beside the river to be vigilant as the rain still continues.
According to Shrestha, one person died in the Sundarharaicha municipality due to the flood. DSP Shrestha said Ram Bahadur BK, 55, of Sisaughari in Sundarharaicha-6 died in the flood.
BK’s body was found in the morning while it was being washed away by the Gachhiya River on Sunday.
