Design and build
After the launch of the Apache series by TVS back in 2006, the design DNA has been the same with modern and aggressive looks evolving in the series. The TVS Apache RTR 310 has the same design philosophy as a naked street bike. The edges are sharp with the frame and other parts being open while the colour accents and is inspired by the Apache RR 310. It looks like a combination of the Apache RR 310 and the TVS Raider.
It has a Bi-LED headlight which comes with a smart control that automatically adjusts the brightness based on the speed and lighting conditions. The front indicators are also LED which are situated just above the headlight.
The taillight has a twin stip LED light which adapts according to the intensity of braking and acceleration. The back indicators are also LED which are in the mudguard adding the aggressive stance.
The tank is muscular with sharp edges and graphics. The seats are also sporty with a two-step design, the driver’s seat is lower while the passenger’s seat is high. The RTR 310 is also available with pro kits which offer different kinds of other features. The main one is a climate-controlled seat which offers three levels of heating and cooling, the first in the segment.
The RTR 310 has a 5-inch full-colour TFT instrument cluster. It provides information such as speed, RPM, Fuel level, engine temperature, gear position, time, trip meter, distance to empty, service reminder and warning lights.
The instrument cluster also helps with different settings like the tune settings, cruise control, headlamp brightness, GoPro settings, music and modes. There are 5 ride modes; Urban Mode, Rain Mode, Sport Mode, Track Mode and Supermoto Mode.
The handlebar is also made with a focus on ergonomics and giving the rider precise control and feedback along with switches such as the horn, electric start, engine kill switch, light and indicator controls and mode controls.
The exhaust muffler is similar in design to the Apache RR 310 with a rumbling and bass sound when accelerated. The design of the exhaust is kind of questionable for many people because of the big size. TVS should have given an underbelly exhaust for the bike which would have perfectly suited the design language.
The frame of the RTR 310 is a hyper-spec trellis frame with a light aluminium sub-frame. The frame provides the bike with a dynamic response at higher speeds and also helps in easy manoeuvrability. The frame is well-built and sturdy so ensures safety too.
Performance
The TVS Apache RTR 310 shares the same engine as the RR 310 which is a 312.12 cc single-cylinder, four-stroke engine with fuel injection, liquid cooling, and spark ignition. It provides 26.16 kW of power at 9700 rpm in Sport, Track and SuperMoto modes, while Urban and Rain modes offer a more balanced 19.9 kW at 7500 rpm. As for torque, the bike provides maximum torque of 28.7 Nm @6650 rpm in Sport, Track and SuperMoto mode whereas it provides 27.3 Nm @6600 rpm in Urban and Rain mode.
The engine’s 80 mm bore and 62.1 mm stroke, combined with a compression ratio of 12.17:1, result in a power-to-weight ratio of 0.15 kW/kg. To ensure proper control and responsiveness, electronic throttle control (ETC) is employed. Starting the bike is easy with an electric start, and the engine idles smoothly at 1600 ± 200 rpm.
The TVS Apache RTR 310 is equipped with a wet multi-plate clutch featuring a 7-plate design and an RT slipper clutch for swift gear changes. Its 6-speed gearbox provides flexibility in various riding conditions. This bike can reach a top speed of 150 km/h and delivers acceleration figures of 0-60 km/h in 2.81 seconds and 0-100 km/h in 7.19 seconds.
Brakes, suspension and tyres
In addition to its powerful engine and impressive performance, the TVS Apache RTR 310 comes equipped with a well-rounded suspension and braking system. On the front, it features a 41 mm diameter Upside-Down (USD) fork suspension and at the rear, it is equipped with a Solid Die-cast Aluminum swing arm that is directly hinged to a mono-shock suspension, which allows for preload adjustment to fine-tune the bike according to the riders preference.
The suspension is suitable for stunt riding too. The bike’s overall design language and the suspension features help in doing stunts and can be seen in the trailer too.
The braking system on the TVS Apache RTR 310 is also good. The front wheel is equipped with a substantial 300mm disc brake and the rear wheel features a 240mm disc brake. Additionally, the bike is equipped with Dual Channel ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) along with DOT 4 brake fluid for controlled braking in various road conditions.
The TVS Apache RTR 310 rides on stylish 8-spoke dual-coloured alloys. The front alloy wheel has a black colour with some bright colour strips in the bottom and the back has a fully coloured alloy. according to the colour option you choose. The front wheel features an MT 3.0×17 rim size, paired with a 110/70-R17 tubeless tire. The rear wheel is equipped with an MT 4.0×17 rim size and a wide 150/60-R17 tubeless tire, which along with the ride modes provide excellent traction and stability, during long rides or corners.
