Editor Basnet awarded the Badri National Kalashree Journalism Prize

The Nepali Kalasahitya.com Foundation has announced the recipients of the National Kalashree Honors and Awards for the year 2081BS. During a meeting chaired by the foundation’s president, poet and essayist Momila Joshi, the awards were finalised and made public on Thursday in Kathmandu.

Prominent scholar and educator Prof Dr Beena Poudyal has been selected for the prestigious Amulya National Kalashree Honor. Similarly, the National Kalashree Award will be conferred upon poet and literary activist Bishwavimohan Shrestha.

The Badri National Kalashree Journalism Prize will be awarded to Basanta Basnet, editor of Onlinekhabar.com and a novelist. The Sa-Siddhi National Kalashree Youth Award has been designated for poet and translator Chandra Gurung.

In the arts category, the Thirchhaya National Kalashree Fine Arts Award will be presented to experimental young artist Sunil Sigdel, while the Padmanetra National Kalashree Music Award goes to folk singer and collector Kamalikanta Bhetwal.

The National Kalashree Award includes a copper plaque and a cash prize of NR 100,000. The Sa-Siddhi Youth Award carries a cash prize of Rs 75,000, while the Thirchhaya Fine Arts Award is worth Rs 60,000. Other honours come with a copper plaque and cash prizes of Rs 50,000 each.

President Momila Joshi announced that the award ceremony will take place in Kathmandu at the end of the Nepali month of Magh. The Nepali Kalasahitya.com Foundation has been presenting the Kalashree Honors and Awards consistently for the past 16 years.
