The Office of the Attorney General presented its annual report for the fiscal year 2080/81 BS to President Ram Chandra Paudel.
At a program held on Sunday at the President’s Office, Shital Niwas, Attorney General Ramesh Badal submitted the report to President Paudel.
Receiving the report, President Paudel emphasised the need for government case investigations, prosecutions, arguments, advocacy, and defense to be more scientific, effective, and evidence-based. He added that increasing the success rate of cases would enhance the rule of law and improve the efficiency of the criminal justice system.
“More than just increasing the success rate of cases, it is essential to ensure that victims receive justice and that the justice process is victim-friendly,” said President Paudel. “Thus, the Attorney General’s responsibility extends beyond punishing offenders to ensuring that victims receive justice, including compensation.”
President Paudel also noted that Nepal’s constitution guarantees the fundamental rights of crime victims and expressed confidence that the Attorney General’s Office would focus on ensuring the effective implementation of the constitution to protect these rights.
