The Hetauda Water Supply Management Board produces 37 million litres of drinking water daily, serving approximately 165,000 residents of Hetauda Sub-Metropolis. Water is distributed through 28,112 taps for an average of nine hours per day.

Board Chair Pratap Bista stated that the Board has successfully implemented a 24-hour water supply in the city’s core area. The management of 16 drinking water consumer committees has been transferred to the Board, while supply in Wards 11, 12, and 13 is still overseen by local consumer committees.

Since August-September 2022, the local government has been providing up to 10,000 litres of water per month free of charge to each consumer, benefiting households that fall within this usage limit.

To enhance supply, the Board has installed 15 deep tube wells using its internal resources. Additionally, it has expanded approximately 400 kilometres of major and auxiliary pipelines.

Several infrastructure projects, including one overhead water tank, three underground tanks, four deep borings, and pipeline expansion and electrification, have been completed. These developments were jointly funded by the Integrated Water Supply and Sewerage Management Project, Hetauda Sub-Metropolis, and the Board, with a total investment of around Rs 150 million.
