A flooded Bhotekoshi has swept away 20 houses at Tatopani VDC and put 200 houses at high risk.
Khum Lal Bhusal, inspector at the border police office in Larcha, said the gushing river has put 200 houses located along the Larcha-Liping strech at high risk.
The river has already eroded a 50-metre stretch of the Araniko Highway in Kodari. It has swept away the Tatopani-based Mansarovar Boarding School building, the border police office said. It added that the river has swept away half of the dam of the Upper Bhotekoshi Hydropower Project.
With rainfall continuing, the river, which started causing havoc from Tuesday night, may cause further damage to the road and houses, police said.
In Kalika and Maila VDCs of Humla district, flooding has caused significant damage.
Rains continuing for days have hit 35 households based in Lamahi Kanthe, Kalika VDC ward numbers 7 and 8.
Floods have swept away grains stored in houses and caused damage to 50 ropani of land. Rainfall has also damaged irrigation and water projects.
Floods have caused much damage in Maila VDC as well. At Lauthi village, it swept away five cows and buffaloes. In Lamahi of Maila VDC, floods have causd damage to four houses.
Farmers are now seeking compensation for damage caused by flooding.
