Kathmandu, June 12
The CPN-Maoist Centre has decided to withdraw its support to the KP Sharma Oli-led ruling coalition, putting the coalition on the verge of collapse, it is learnt.
Earlier, there were reports that the main opposition and the largest party in the Parliament, Nepali Congress, was ready to help the Maoist party cobble together a majority government in place of the Oli-led dispensation.
The main opposition had earlier nixed Prachanda’s proposal to help it with the formation of a national unity government under his leadership. An earlier report said a majority of Maoist leaders were in favour of replacing the Oli government, though Narayan Kaji Shrestha and some others were opposed to the idea.
Prachanda has reportedly written a letter to incumbent PM Oli, notifying him about withdrawal of Maoist support to the government. Maoist leader Janardhan Sharma ‘Prabhakar’ is to deliver the letter to Oli.
