Mustang, July 7

The government of Nepal is making preparations to conduct a study on the coal mine found in Tangdung of Thini, Jomsom.

The preparations come right after a team of experts under Minister for Industries Som Prasad Pandey conducted a study on Salt, Uranium and petroleum deposits in different parts of Mustang district.

The coal mine lies on the way to the Tilicho Lake. Ash Bahadur Thakali of Thini said locals have been using this coal to light fire.

The coal is visible and there’s a need to conduct a study on the coal deposit, he said. The team had not been able to conduct a study n the coal mine during its earlier visit due to ‘time constraint’.

Minister Pandey said the government will prioritise the study on coal mine. He said: The government will move ahead by conducting relevant studies. We plan to send additional teams for conducting further studies on Uranium and coal mine.

Meanwhile, a government team comprising three deputy prime ministers is heading for Mustang on Thursday. The team comprising Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar, Bhim Rawal and Top Bahadur Rayamajhi will make an inspection of the Korala trade point adjoining China, focusing mainly on transport infrastructure there.
