Kathmandu, July 7

Lawmakers have urged the government of Nepal to provide relief and adequate compensation to victims of flooding and landslides

Speaking in the Parliament at the zero hour on Wednesday, they pointed that people were facing hardships due to flooding in the Bhotekoshi River. They said landslides were giving people in districts like Gorkha and Pyuthan a hard time. The lawmakers demanded compensation for families of those, who have died in natural disasters.

Later, Speaker Onsari Gharti directed ministers concerned to answer questions about loss of lives and properties in natural disasters and violence against women.

Some lawmakers asked Tarai-Madhesh-centric parties to end their hunger strike, launch a struggle from within the Parliament and come to the talks table. While others accused authorities of recommending their near and dear ones as ambassadors and judges. They pointed that such figures will not be able to deliver.
